Put some forties glamour in your wardrobes this Autumn.
Posted by: | CommentsFashion is known for its notoriously cyclical tendencies; to bring about classic trends from the past and re-create them with modern twists; this is certainly the case for Autumn/Winter 2011 as there is a great revival of forties glamour this season to insert a little extra femininity into your wardrobes. Its a much welcomed trend to us here at DSUK as we love how it’s all about statement and the empowerment of women; its a trend that due to tailored items and delightful accessories is able to celebrate all aspects of the female form, from the curvier woman to the more petite lady, you won’t find it hard to pull of this gorgeous look regardless of size or shape. There’s a strong emphasis on furs, blouses, hats, pearl accessories and gloves all centred around a classic staple to a woman’s wardrobe…the pencil skirt.

Here at DSUK we love this look and believe that its a true testimony to the undying world of fashion, it proves that despite the hardships of that time and regardless of the fact that fabrics were difficult to come by, women still made sure they looked fabulous with whatever they had; it was an era that enforced one of DSUK’s favourite mottos and that is recycle your clothes! Does the gloomy forecast make you think ‘i will never spend again’! or are you more of a ‘sod it, let’s blow the inheritance’! or ‘perhaps one little westwood and then i promise to not buy again for at least ummmm…. a couple of weeks’!!
Hey some say money is energy and we need to keep circulating it, buying and selling, trading, isn’t that what we’ve done for millenia! Perhaps the smart thing right now is to look at how we can trade with each other, swapping and trading skills for payment – then we can all wear fabulous clothes and feel good about ourselves.

Shopping in Brighton!

Brighton’s north Laines is one of the most historic and cultural parts of the city, a shopper’s heavenly maze filled with twisting alleyways full to the brim with retail delight that you can leisurely meander through all day. Its definitely worth taking a look around all the charming little boutiques and vintage stores for one off times that will be completely unique to your wardrobe; much like Brighton’s lanes, our sales are unique and provide you, our fabulous customers with the chance to come and grab one off pieces at absolute bargains! So luckily enough for all you fashionistas out there that adore a unique shopping experience with competitive prices, our next Designer sale is going to be in the trendy town of Brighton on the 4th and 5th of November at the Hilton Metropole, Kings Rd.
Popular for its wide variety in vintage shopping, Brighton’s north laines has multiple different places for you to come and find some classic clothing to take home with you. One of the city’s biggest and most well known vintage stores is Beyond Retro, with an unmissable vivid yellow shop front, its definitely worth going in and having a rummage around. Another delightful little shop not far from the station and fabulous for finding gorgeous vintage items is Kate & Aud; when you enter the charming boutique it’s as though you have stumbled upon a grown-ups dressing up box; Kate & Aud is bursting with both beautifully and ethically made vintage and modern clothing as well as stunning bespoke charm jewellery.
However, even if vintage isn’t your thing then there are plenty of other lovely little boutiques filled with fantastic clothes that have a more modern look; Nola is an adorable little shop with a laid back atmosphere that is most welcoming to its customers. Not only are there modern little boutiques in the Lanes but Brighton alos has its main shopping area; there is the Churchill Square shopping centre as well as the main high street, Western Road where you can find your usual high street names such as Zara, H&M, Topshop, New Look etc. So make the most of your day filled with retail therapy in Brighton and give yourselves the chance to look around the wonderful seaside town as well as paying us at DSUK a little visit.
