London Collections: Men finishes today after a few days of menswear taking centre stage and showcasing the best that the designers have to offer for Spring/ Summer 2014. At Designer Sales UK we’ve been following the shows and enjoying all the news from the events that have taken place… By the end of today 134 designers will have participated, 30 shows, 22 presentations, 36 onsite showrooms and 21 events will have taken place. These few precious days in the fashion calendar dedicated to menswear emphasises both the creative and commercial importance of Britain’s brands and emerging talent as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector. All events on the schedule are designed to showcase the breadth of British fashion talent, from the world’s most innovative emerging talents to global menswear brands and Savile Row tailors. Designers that have shown include; Agi & Sam, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Christopher Kane, Christopher Raeburn, Dolce & Gabbana, Gieves and Hawkes, Hardy Amies, Hentsch Man, Jimmy Choo, Jonathan Saunders, Margaret Howell, Nicole Farhi, Oliver Spencer, Paul Smith, Rag & Bone, Savile Row & St James’s, Tom Ford and Topman Design plus many many more great menswear labels. Growth has been fuelled by a rise in the average selling prices of menswear. In addition, according to Mintel’s research, the menswear market is anticipated to witness growth of 16% between 2011 and 2016. Men’s items now represent 50 per cent of the luxury apparel market worldwide and London is doing everything it can to support the growth of menswear, ‘I am delighted to support London Collections: Men, which with great aplomb shows why London is the menswear capital of the world. From the raincoat to the bowler hat and the sharp-suited gent to the peacock dandy, we have a heritage that is second to none.
